DEFINITION: Under general supervision, manage donor database,
produce monthly and quarterly reports, coordinate donor
recordkeeping, send donor acknowledgements, ensure donor
benefits fulfillment, provide support to Director of Development

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL QUALIFICATIONS: At least three years of
experience in an administrative support position with experience
in development, special events or sales is preferred. Required

DOD is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the
Executive Director. The Director will be responsible for
successfully leading the donor relations program including the
management of all donor issues, requests and concerns. This
includes but is not limited to management of all in-kind and
monetary donations to the organization including
acknowledgement, accurate gift record keeping, and handling all
required gift reporting. The Director will be heavily involved
in strategic planning and will also supervise department staff.
This position is anything but “numbers-only.” The successful
applicant will be a creative, innovative and dynamic individual,
able to think “outside the box” and develop new and interesting
ways to involve donors and our community. The work atmosphere is

staff. Budget & Fiscal Responsibility - The Director will be
responsible for creating and successfully meeting the
fundraising plan set forth in the annual budget and for creating
and managing any additional special campaign budgets (including
a centennial campaign to kick off in 2010). In addition, the
director will work closely with the finance department to ensure
that gifts are closely tracked and the database maintained.
Annual Fund - The Director will be responsible for successfully
managing a comprehensive annual fundraising plan incorporating
all arms of the fundraising program--direct mail, major donor
program, planned giving/bequest program, corporate giving,
foundation grants program, board and volunteer giving, CFC and
other workplace giving, in-kind donations, online giving, and
events. Some of these are further described below: Direct Mail
Program, Major Donor Program, Planned Giving Program, Corporate
& Foundation Relations, Publications & Web Site, Special Events,
Committee Responsibility. The Director will attend relevant
board, committee and staff meetings and be responsible for the
completion of all pertinent committee reports and record
keeping.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record at

Our clients are the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS),
the nation’s largest animal protection organization and the SPCA
Wildlife Care Center (WCC), located in Broward County and
serving the South Florida region. WCC’s mission is to rescue,
rehabilitate and release/place injured, abandoned or abused
wildlife and selected domestic animals. Last year, they treated
over 14,000 animals, making WCC the largest center of its kind
in the nation.
HSUS and WCC have formed a partnership to greatly expand their
capacity to provide care and protection to animals throughout S.
Florida. They have retained us to recruit a skilled Director of
Development to lead the fundraising efforts for the WCC. This
individual will be directly employed by the HSUS.
The Director of Development is responsible for the income
potential of the Wildlife Care Center in cooperation with the
HSUS Philanthropy Dept. This professional plans, implements and
manages fundraising and community events; develops relationships
with annual funding sources, individual donors and corporate
relationships; acquires grant funding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop, coordinate and implement a diversified WCC
fundraising plan; to be coordinated with HSUS to ensure
efficiency.
• Serve as a public spokesperson for the Wildlife Care Center.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Development
Department, including staff leadership and budget.
• Responsible for grant reports and proposals; to be coordinated
with HSUS grant manager for efficiency and optimum use of
resources.
• Ensure that follow-up grant reports are submitted in a timely
manner and requirements of the funders are met.
• Create successful fundraising events with support of
committee/auxiliary members.
• Participate in HSUS Philanthropy retreats, mentoring and
training programs.
• Use Moves Management cultivation system for development
strategies for fundraising.
• Lead, coordinate and train staff and volunteers to assist in
development efforts.
• Supervise donor tracking systems and information.
• Perform donor base analysis for development of strategic goals
for direct mail campaigns.
• Coordinate communication pieces that support development and
community relations with HSUS Communication Department.
• Enter all donor actions, contacts and proposals into Raisers
Edge database.
• Oversee community events and festivals in cooperation with the
Director of Volunteer Services.
• Promote a clear and positive image of the Wildlife Care
Center, its values and mission in the community.
• Develop positive relationships with key members of the
community.
• Give tours of the facility to prospective donors.
• Attend in-service training and orientation as deemed necessary
by the Advisory Board or Partnership Council.
• Participate in WCC staff meetings and community functions.
• Provide support and liaison with Advisory Board, Women’s
Auxiliary and/or Partnership Council.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Proven successful track record in direct mail, annual gifts,
recruiting corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and
managing special events.
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in fundraising efforts for
nonprofit organizations.
• Cooperative and positive attitude, with a creative and
enthusiastic approach to fundraising.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management. Skills
in desktop publishing desirable.
• Organized and able to manage time successfully.
• Strong oral and written communication. Proficiency in public
speaking.
• Demonstrated skill and ability to perform accurate, detailed
work.
• Genuine compassion, concern and interest in the
patients’/animals’ welfare.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and insurable. Must have
reliable transportation and be willing to travel within the
State of Florida.

POSITION SUMMARY The Animal Care Supervisor will oversee all
animal care aspects of the animal shelter to include kennel
operations, health care, euthanasia, administrative and support
services for animal care issues, assuring that established basic
care standards are met for all animals.
PRIMARY DUTIES
•Oversee the daily operation of the FKSPCA’s animal care and
sheltering, including animal care staff and volunteers.
•Assist in hiring, training, coordination, and evaluation of
assigned personnel.
•Assist with kennel care to include, but not limited to, kennel
cleaning and animal feeding.
•Assure proper and humane handling of all animals, at all times,
with attention to their comfort, stress level, and special
needs.
•Assist as needed with adoption counseling.
•Assist as needed with canine temperament evaluations.
•Responsible for all kennel care issues, including training for
animal care, the welfare of sheltered animals and records
relating to kennel areas.
•Assist with front counter operations, including adoptions and
customer service.
•Establish and promote a team approach with staff and direct
staff meetings as necessary.
•Oversee initial general health exams of all animals admitted
and identify and treat animals requiring veterinary care.
•Oversee the administration of vaccines and drugs.
•Schedule and follow up on outside veterinary care as needed.
•Oversee the scheduling of spay/neuter and other surgeries with
participating vets.
•Network with other shelters and rescue organizations to ensure
the placement of all adoptable animals.
•Coordinate animal foster homes when needed, particularly in
advance of hurricane season.
•Work with staff in identifying and scheduling euthanasia of
shelter animals and perform euthanasia when needed.
•Work to consistently reduce euthanasia rate.
•Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•Two years of experience in animal shelter administration,
animal health care management, or animal hospital office
management, including supervision of staff. Related college
course work desirable.
•Knowledge of and empathy with the mission of the FKSPCA.
•Demonstrable knowledge of principles and techniques of
supervision, motivation techniques, and basic training methods.
Knowledge of decision-making techniques and skill in mediating
disputes, conflicts and grievances.
•Knowledgeable in animal health and well-being in a shelter
setting, including nutritional needs, common animal diseases,
principles of disease prevention, and competent animal first
aid.
•Ability to identify animal species, breeds, ages and sexes and
recognize normal and abnormal animal behavior.
•Ability to identify and assess signs of animal stress, illness
or injury.
•Demonstrable computer literacy and record keeping skills, as
well as reporting knowledge.
•Knowledge of fiscal and budgeting practices and procedures
would be an asset.
•Demonstrable personal communication knowledge, including
effective phone skills, effective interviewing techniques, and
ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
•Must be able to communicate effectively with the general public
in sometimes difficult situations.
•Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
•A license in administering euthanasia is required within three
(3) months of employment.
•A license as Animal Control Officer is required within six (6)
months of employment.
•Must reside in FKSPCA contractual jurisdiction (between MM 0
and MM 16).
•Willing to work weekends and holidays.

THIS IS A NON-UNION, EXEMPT POSITION We are searching for a
motivated, creative individual with a strong background in
animal welfare to join our team. The Shelter Supervisor must be
skilled in the following areas: communication, supervision, as
well as customer service and office management. In addition,
this position requires knowledge of disease control, animal
handling, shelter operations, animal behavior and care. You will
maintain the inventory of the kennels, order supplies, schedule
staffing, enforce policies and procedures, and conduct
disciplinary action. The Shelter Supervisor must be forward
thinking and assist in creating programs and work well with the
public to enable the shelter to progress.
Requirements:
• Minimum of two years management experience or suitable related
experience, as well as experience in customer service.
• Animal sheltering experience is preferred.
• High School or GED; Associates degree preferred.
