By joining, you become part of an elite group of animal welfare professionals who are pursuing the growth and prestige of our business. As members, we not only set the high standards of quality and ethics for all animal welfare administrators; we have the following objectives:

  • To promote the sharing of information among and within animal welfare and control agencies.
  • To enhance the positive and professional image of animal welfare and control agencies
  • To provide education opportunities for our members.

SAWA's mission is the promotion of humane ideals and a professional approach to management of private or governmental animal welfare and control agencies.

Membership Levels and Fees (beginning January 1, 2010)

Executive ($200) - Any individual functioning as the chief executive of an agency that operates an animal care and control organization or an organization that enforces animal regulations.

Manager ($175) - Managers or supervisors of an agency that operates an animal care and control organization or an organization that enforces animal regulations.

Associate ($175) - All other parties interested in the field of animal welfare and control (excluding for-profit businesses), including board members or government commissioners.

Industry Partner ($225) - Vendors to the trade.

Retired - Society members for a minimum of 15 years, in good standing, who have officially retired from animal care and control management.

All members receive the SAWA Network News, a quarterly E Newsletter.
